How 3D Embossed UV Printing Works

I. Image Preparation & Spot Channel Creation

First, open the artwork in Adobe Photoshop and use selection tools to precisely define the areas where an embossed effect is required.

Key steps include:

• selecting the target areas that need a 3D texture
• creating a spot color channel in the Channels panel
• assigning the selected areas to the white ink or varnish channel

This spot channel determines the shape, position, and coverage of the raised printing effect.

II. Printing Setup & UV Curing Process

In the RIP printing software, the spot channel is configured as white ink or transparent varnish, and the required number of printing layers is defined.

During the printing process:

• the printheads repeatedly jet ink onto the same area
• each printed layer is instantly cured by UV LED lamps
• layer-by-layer stacking builds physical height on the surface

Through controlled ink stacking and immediate UV curing, a tactile 3D embossed effect is formed with clear edges and stable structure.
