To begin the DTF printing process, start by loading the DTF film into your inkjet printer, making sure the matte side is facing up --this is the side that will receive the ink. It's essential to handle the film carefully to avoid fingerprints or smudges that could affect print quality.
Next, print your design using DTF-compatible pigment inks. Be sure the artwork is mirrored before printing so it appears correctly after transfer. Once the design is printed onto the film, the ink will still be wet and tacky--this is the perfect time to apply the adhesive powder.
Evenly sprinkle hot-melt adhesive powder over the printed design by hand. Gently shake or tilt the film to distribute the powder uniformly, ensuring every part of the printed area is coated. For best results, you can apply the powder more than once to guarantee complete coverage, especially on fine details or larger prints.
After powdering, cure the film using a heat press or curing oven before transferring it to your fabric. This ensures strong adhesion and crisp, long-lasting results.
